Hours of Operation:
Radio Base operates Saturday and Sunday from 0700 to 1715 hours with outstations on listening watch most daylight hours each week day.

Area of Operation: Whitsunday Islands Group and Cumberland Islands Group and out to the Great Barrier Reef which is approximately 90,000 square kilometres

Radio Contact Information: Radio Call Sign: VMR422 . The station monitors VHF channels 16, repeater channels 22,80,81, HF 2524, 27.88 MHz. Please identify which channel when calling.

Overview of Operations: Radio Operations room:
one operator per shift, two shifts per day, operators one shift per month
Search and Rescue coordinators assist when necessary.
Rescue Vessel:
Three crews of four personnel on call.

Rescue Vessel:
9.8 metre Cougar Cat fitted with:

2 x 250 outboard motors,

Radar,

GPS,

VHF & HF radios,

Mobile Phone, (not always available due to distance)

all safety equipment,

pump for fire fighting or to pump out vessel,

oxy viva for emergencies,

outboard rubber duck as a tender
